New Year

Well, happy new year everyone, both system members and 'real' people (we've found that amusing ever since our friend's system was told they don't exist by a psychiatrist...)

This year hasn't exactly been a good one, but it's certainly been the most action-packed so far. This year, everything has changed.

We've become aware of each other, and able to co-operate much better as a system. We've gone from the depths of not knowing 'who the hell that voice in my head is' to getting so organised we can ever get each other Christmas and birthday presents. :) This has made things a lot easier, and has really established everyone in whatever roles they want to take.

We've had a hard time in terms of love for the first half of the year, with Kerry getting badly hurt for the very first time (of many yet to come?). But that's over and done with now, and the best thing to come out of this year has been Kerry's girlfriend, who's been absolutely amazing for all of us. As well as her giving Kerry a lot of support, she's multiple too, and just knowing that we're not the only ones has been a lot of help.

It's not only Kerry who's benefited through love. Lynn has also found a boyfriend, Aaron, in Kerry's girlfriend's system, who's helped her think through a lot of things from Lynn's childhood. Andy's found a girlfriend, Bronwyn, also in Kerry's girlfriend's system, who's helped him get over a lot of his insecurity and feelings of uselessness. And how could we forget Tash and Jenna - who would have thought that people so prone to cheating on each other would have survived together 3 years? :P

(trigger warning for the below paragraphs)

Ignoring a little blip today, Kerry's been doing very well quitting her self-harm this year, as has everyone else in here who has a history of it. It's around 12 weeks since Kerry made the conscious decision that she didn't need to cut herself any more, and although she hasn't thrown her scissors out yet, she's still definitely been moving on. Andy's been doing better with not hurting himself - it's now four days since he last did, which is an all-time record - and Lynn has finally got more confident over showing off her scars, burn marks and bruises. (No more wandering around inside with jumpers and long trousers on in August...)

Kerry's also done well getting help on the outside. This year, she finally got the strength up to find a friend that she could get close to and trust, who's now her girlfriend, and later on this year, she was brave enough to tell others about her self-harm and try to get help. Although help hasn't exactly been forthcoming, she's had to admit a lot of personal details to a lot of people she didn't even know, and we know how much that took, so well done Kerry. :)

(end triggers)

This year, although it hasn't been amazing, had has its up-points. As a system, we'd day the best bit was Christmas, which was the first time we really got to do something together and not just exist seperately. Kerry's personal high was falling in love with her girlfriend, but that's Kerry.

Happy new year to everyone, both on the inside and the outside, and we hope that your 2007 brings everything you want from it, and then some. :)

- Everyone
